Joan Rosenblum

There are artist’s quotes which seem to fit me.  In particular the following:
“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”  – Edward Hopper
“And all the colors I am inside have not been invented yet.”  – Shel Silverstein

Color is the driving force that has influenced me to create my art.  Pastels and oils have been my favorite mediums. What influences my color sense is music and poetry.  While listening to them I visualize color and then it happens on the large paper or canvas.  Then there are times they need to be diminutive as well because with music and poetry there are phrases that one wants to retain.  Music and poetry become color reflecting the textural and contrary hues in harmony of each piece.  The outcome is a rhythmic subtlety of converging color, possessing a luminescent effect through the application of tonal modulation.
